Our sources

California laws and education regulations, in one place.

The Constitution and all 29 California Codes

We download the California Legislature’s bulk legal data, called PUBINFO, and extract the California Constitution and all 29 California Codes for search and chat. The Education Code is one of those 29 Codes, alongside the Penal Code, Government Code, and others.

The state’s download page lists ZIP archives and a readme explaining the files. These are bulk data files, rather than a page for browsing individual laws. We turn the legal text into searchable sections and link citations back to the official source.

Title 5 education regulations

Title 5 is part of the California Code of Regulations. It is separate from the 29 California Codes and is not part of our PUBINFO import. We collect its education regulations separately from California’s online regulations, hosted on Westlaw.
